Nice is Overrated

“Harry, do you think I’ll end up on Santa’s naughty list this year?” Teddy asked, worrying his bottom lip with his teeth.

Harry ruffled the six-year-old’s currently Malfoy-blond hair. Teddy looked up at him with wide green eyes the exact shade of his own, and Harry felt his heart nearly burst with affection for the sweet boy.

“No, Teddy, you’re a good boy. I’m sure Santa has plenty of presents for you,” Harry promised him. “But, if you don’t get to bed, Santa might not come, and it’s getting late. Hop to it, little man.”

Harry couldn’t help laughing as Teddy literally hopped from the room on the way to brush his teeth, the little snitches on his sky-blue footie pyjamas speeding up as he moved.

“Sounds quite merry in here,” Draco remarked, “Is Teddy in bed?”

“Mhm, he’s headed that way, Harry answered. “He was worried he’d be on Santa’s naughty list and not get any gifts this year.”

“Santa’s nice list is highly overrated,” Draco claimed, “It’s much more fun being naughty.”

“You know that and I know that, but Teddy doesn’t need to know that for some years yet. Keep it down will you, or Andromeda will have my hide again. Bad enough he heard us that one time,” Harry said, blushing at the memory of it.

“It’s not my fault you’re a screamer, Potter. You should have remembered to cast a silencing ward,” Draco responded.

“I can’t be held responsible for that,” Harry retorted. “You were doing completely wicked things with your tongue. I was lucky to remember my own name at that point.”

“That just proves my point,” Draco smirked, “Naughty can be very nice.”
